Struggling? It's not easy - we're here to help. We'll give you a few powerups to try, some learning strategies to think about, or maybe a new lead to follow in your search for an answer. In these sessions, meet with a tutor and we'll help you figure it all out. GCC students who use tutoring services earn higher GPAs and are more likely to continue their studies! Want to get started?

Bridging the Gap

The third in our Learning Strategies workshop series, which begins with "How Do I Learn?" and continues with "Successful Learning Strategies." What do vowels, Legos, and elevators have to do with each other? Find out as you diagram your personal learning space and explore the best way to construct new knowledge from your classroom experience.  This session is all about becoming your best learner by adapting knowledge to fit you.

How do I Learn?

This is the first workshop of the Learning Strategies Series. It continues with Successful Learning Strategies, and finishes with Bridging the Gap: To Better Learning. While we suggest you go through all three in order, we have built these modules so that you can go through each one individually.

Adventure Team: World Music Genres

With the influx of foreign music into the American music scene, an argument could be made that Billboard's and Grammy's "World Music" genre no longer makes sense. And are there American categories could use a revamp – we're looking at you, 'urban music.' What genres of music are making tracks on our radio stations and how might we consider these songs against English-based, Euro-centric hits? Listening to such varieties as Celtic folk revivals, kpop & jpop, and Afro-Cuban – among others – how could we fairly represent the world?

Choose Your Math Office Hours

Choose Your Math (CYM) helps you get ready for your GCC math class by refreshing your knowledge on concepts such as signed numbers, dividing fractions, and working with algebraic equations. From there, videos expand to polynomials, radicals, logarithms, and trigonometric functions. You choose which videos you need! – Maybe a topic doesn’t look familiar, or maybe the instructor said something in class you didn’t quite understand. Write down the term in your note margins and search CYM for a video – chances are pretty good that we made one!

Developmental Math Help for Returning Students

This workshop will provide unstructured time for students in developmental math courses who may have been away from formal education for a while. In this workshop, a tutor will be available to work individually and one-on-one with returning students who might need a hand refreshing skills or recalling information learned long ago. This workshop time will provide a friendly, relaxed atmosphere where you can ask all of your math questions and be among other returning students.
