Planning Your Path

Getting from enrollment to graduation may seem simple. You take the right classes, you get your degree - right? Not so fast. There are general requirements, prerequisites, corequisites, recommended electives, financial aid requirements and so much more. Juggling all of these requirements is a task in itself - your Success Coach is key to the process!  In this workshop, we'll help you understand some of the lingo, the order, and the many layers that go into making up your two-year plan.

When a Course Becomes Difficult

It happens to the best of us! You sit and listen to the lecture, you do the homework, but you still feel lost. Maybe the subject is out of your comfort zone, or it's just a difficult class. It may feel like the end of the world - it's not. You can get back on track, but you're going to need some tools to handle the pressure. Learn how to properly self-assess your class performance and what resources are available on campus to help you recover. We'll help you get back to the academic success you want to see - whatever that may look like for you.

Timely Time Management

Life is hard. There's a lot going on, and so many things can be hard to keep track of. Let's sit down for a spell and get all of this on track. We'll brainstorm many items that are key to our lives and prioritize what how time bounded and demanding each item is. From there, we can organize and track everything both on a small, weekly scale, and globally on the rest of the semester. We'll look back on what we've accomplished so far and use it to plan out big projects, gaining a view of our limits and how much time we need to complete tasks. Besides, who can say no to coloring?

Adapting My Learning Style

Did you know that everyone learns differently? Instructors are trained to recognize different learning styles and work with a variety of students, it is true. You can be a powerful driver in this process by understanding your own learning style - recognizing your strengths and weaknesses will help you ask the right questions, take the right notes, and use the right resources to improve your performance. Like turbo-charging an engine, you can improve your learning process across all coursework!
