Event Description:

Artist Biography, Timothy L. Dusen, GCC Class of 1991 and Current Genesee4Life student:

Timothy Dusen a 1986 graduate of Pembroke Central High School in Corfu, NY and a 1991 graduate of SUNY – Genesee Community College. He has an Associate's degree in Commercial Arts, with a minor in History. Mr. Dusen has been part of SUNY GCC’s Genesee4Life program for the past 3 years. He decided to return to higher education after receiving his SSDI from having two open heart surgeries. The first took place on January 4th, 2015 to repair a torn aorta, which was lifesaving. The second surgery was needed for a heart aneurysm on July 11th, 2017. Both procedures were performed at UR Strong Memorial Hospital, where he had the pleasure of having a few former SUNY GCC nursing grads taking care of him.  Since the 2017 surgery, Mr. Dusen have been getting stroke-like symptoms and undergoing medical testing to find the cause. Despite his medical disabilities, Timothy finds great joy in photography and his continued exploration of the medium.

He has been a member of the Batavia Photography Club since 1992, serving as the club president three times. He was a past president of the club when it was part of the Niagara Frontier Regional Camera Clubs, which had clubs from Rochester, Perry, South Buffalo, North Tonawanda, Erie PA, and Southern Ontario. Timothy was awarded the Joe Bartucca Service Award in 2007 and 2012 for volunteering my time to the NFRCC Convention with the Slide Salon. Unfortunately, in 2023 the NFRCC folded due to the pandemic. Other clubs have scaled back since, like with the Batavia Club on paper and on Facebook only.

In 1994, Timothy established a portable on-location photo studio, which brought the photographic studio to the client. He enjoys taking pictures using both film and digital photography. Mr. Dusen prides himself on using in-camera techniques to enhance an image, rather than editing a photograph after the fact. He gravitates to imagery pertaining to all modes of transportation, landscapes, lighthouses and historic architecture/imagery. He also enjoys working with models in studio sessions.

This gallery exhibit will be on display through November 4, 2025. The artist reception will be held on October 7, 12:30 - 2:00pm & 5:00 - 7:00pm.
